Beautiful beach for viewing the coastline and wildlife. The tide goes out a long way but comes in very quickly. Advise you stick to the shore line and paths as there is a lot of mud from the river. Fee parking nearby and a lovely café. Decent kids playground near the car park and toilets nearby too. Well worth a visit
Haverigg itself isn't the most picturesque place (although some of the residents have made a real effort to make their properties look cheerful and colourful), and the beach was covered in green/blue algae. The whole area had an atmosphere of neglect, and there was an abandoned boat with graffiti on that didn't help, coupled with the fact that it was a gloomy day.
We found a small carpark with a cafe and toilets nearby (can't comment on these as we didn't use them), as well as a play park for small kids.
I'd imagine it looks a whole lot better on a sunny day and when the algae is gone, but we're not in a hurry to return.
We visited on a rather gloomy day and the tide happened to be out as well, so perhaps we didn't get to see Haverigg at it's best, but the beach itself starts out as shingly and stretches out to a wide expanse of sandy beach. Unfortunately we found the parts of the beach a bit too boggy for our footwear so chose not to go on to the more sandy parts.
There is a car park which appears to be free but I'm not sure how busy it gets during peak times as it's not very big. There are toilets too and a little cafe opposite the car park but we tried neither so I cannot comment on either of those.
Haverigg itself looks like a fairly okish seaside place, with a better mobile signal than some other places in the Western Lake District. It's nice for a gentle afternoon stroll if you're at a loss for something to do.
Great for a blast of fresh air. Pebble/stone beach. Be cautious as the tide comes right up to the sea bank/wall.
Stunning beautiful little beach, a nice place to just sit and enjoy the view. The beach has lots of different walks in different directions. Lots to see and keep you busy.
Really beautiful and peaceful place for great walks and just relaxing on the beach. First time I've been here, but will definitely return.
Lovely small beach that's somehow still unspoilt by too many people or too much tat. Absolutely lovely place.
Lovely area for relaxing and walking. You can park looking out to sea , only about 10 foot above beach.Tide comes in very quickly so beware. On longish but flat walk there is lovely secluded beach, access down a narrow, twisty, sandy slope. Not suitable for anyone that might have severe mobility issues, but there is a bench to sit on and look down on beach, enjoying views. When tide out, the boat in picture one , is out of the water and care needed when walking as very wet and sinking sand in places. I believe the tide comes in and out within an hour, so you could get caught out if not careful.
